Yet another super personalized passion project of mine, created seemingly out of nowhere. As said in the video, it started very simple, then due to my random burst of ambitious inspiration, a couple of days art turn into a weeks long work on an animation xD
. Here's some extra behind the scenes trivia:
1) Huge Naruto fan. TMNT? Fan of TMNT, but only as a CONCEPT. Except the 90's live-action movies, the animated 2007 movie, the Michael Bay movie (the 1st one) and a bunch of out of context clips of cartoon, I haven't really consumed anything TMNT related content.
BUT ninjas and ''colour-coded clone character'' trope are my favorite themes, so TMNT always attracts me (I even ''cosplayed'' Raph and Don when I was a little kid <3 )
...
2) In the same fashion with the backpacks simulating the turtles' shell, I initially wanted to create a vest design, that Jōnin usually wear in the Naruto universe that the 4 main characters would share - to simulate the shell-belly (=plastron). But to me, the vests are associated with mostly adult characters... so to keep the 'teenage' aspect of the TMNT, I decided to reconsider that idea. And yes, I'm aware there a bunch of Naruto teen characters that wore the Jōnin vests, but still >w<
...
3) I planned to actually make a remix for the MV, combining Naruto music with TMNT songs... but there's a lot of ''turtle'' word in the lyrics, obviously, and that wouldn't make much sense in the context of my project. Also my lack of musical skills to execute that idea contributed to the cancellation of that plan xD
